5) Audience Part 2 by Esther

I asked a few friends the following questions:
1.What do you expect to see in a grime music video?
2.What do you find appealing about it?
3.Do you think that depending on if the artist is independent or a mainstream artist, it shows in their music video and why?

From this I've gathered that they all have very similar approaches. It shows that the UK rap scene pretty much shares a common ground in terms of how they produce their music videos. It is also inevitable that they will probably all look similar. It makes it easier for the audience to then identify the genre the song comes from. Rather then having to guess or being left confused. They have also said that there isn't too much of a difference when you compare a mainstream artists and a independents artists music video, as even though one has more capital than the other, they are still trying to promote themselves to the same target audience roughly, which is why they are so alike.

A similar artist we found to Krept and Konan is Skepta.

Here's a overview of his YouGov Profiler, which will show you why they are similar.

The difference between the two are that, whiles You Gov states that Krept and Konan's core audience are females, Skepta's are males. Interestingly enough, they are still in the same age category. Which justifies that Krept and Konan are more appealing to the female population, as their music though grime, is also so much softer than that of Skepta. Skepta's music tend to be all hype and crazy, whiles Krept and Konan's is a mix of slow songs, as well as hype songs, and personal songs. They are similar in the sense that they are UK rappers, so therefore have shared similar life experiences. Now that Krept and Konan are mainstream artists, they are somewhat on the same Platform as Skepta. Whiles Krept and Konan are signed to Virgin EMI records, Skepta is signed to Inters cope/Universal records.

A review from a fan

What a huge fan will expect to see?
Krept x Konan are known for their style of music. When they weren't mainstream artists they stuck to a narrative approach for their music video generally, but now they are switching up with narrative and performance both. It lovely as they always try to represent their lyrics through music videos. As it always tell a story one way or another.

I personally feel like I would know what to expect in a music video of this genre, as I've had the experience and be here for a few. With pictures to show below. It more so based on the urban youth culture of today. What you would expect to see is a portrayal of the urban lifestyle. The typical bag of man, the vixens here and there. The one, two people doing a bit too much for the gram.
