I had the chance to go to the London Finsbury Park Wirelss Festival this summer. And I must say it was wicked!
What is the wirless festival?
It is a music festival that goes on annually very summer without fail. It showcases a mixture of popular and famous artists from in and around the UK and American stars.
This year, its fair to say they had an impressive headline of acts. Starring the likes of Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Nicki Minaj. Though I never got to do on Saturday when Kendrick was headlining, I did however, manage to go on both Friday for Drake's headline and Nicki Minaj's headline.
My experience was amazing on Friday! Firday was the day everyone was dying to go and buy tickets for. All because of how Drake was meant to headline last year but due to illness, he wasn't able to fly out but this year he sure did!
Here's a short clip I had up on my instagram after wireless that night. Here you see Partynextdoor performing. He was awesome! Though he came on set let and had us waiting for what seemed like forever. But it was understandable as it was his birthday. All in all you can tell that he cant honestly sing, no just all the crazy autotunes artists love to use these day. God on you!
This is when Drake brough out Partynextdoor and the crowd sang happy birthday to him, it was such a sweet and beautiful gesture and I just loved it. It really did show that Drake has a lovely soul and character and he values the good people around him. What a lovely man his mother hads raised.
Here we have a shot clip of the legend Drake. This man is incredible! He really did shut it down! Hands down the best performace I have ever seen in my life. I was waiting for his set all night and it was so worth it. I was tottally in my element and at one. I'm so glad that I paid to watch him perform. H e held the audience all in the palms of his hands literally. What a beautiful ending for that night, having him perform last. BIG MAN DRIZY KILLING IT! He also brought out Skepta, bigging up the UK Grime scene. It was amazing. Performing Shut down, it really was a shutdown!
One of the youngst American artists out here killing the musci industry, Augest Aslina. He set was so lovely on Sunday and I was so happy that I managed to get to thr front row of my ticket type. Though his vocals were a bit off, he it was great performance and the dancers were so good.
UK artist Jessie J, another late commer to her set. She was amazing though. After all she was going through, from being in hospital and choosing not to rest and coming out to perform for us. So Touching. Her vocal skills are undiable. The woman can SING! You feel it to the core. Amazing.
I absolutely love this woman right here. Ciara's set was amazing. However the only bad thing that really happened was that her mic stopped working at one point so it was hard to really her she sing. Her dancing was captivating and just down right sexy. The male members of the crowd was loving it. She use the Male gaze to her advantage and had the crowd wanting more. Even us girls were loving it, her sex appeal is off the hook. I personally feel as though she deserved to be on the main stage instead of the pepsi stage. That stage was so packed, literally leaving it with other people's sweat on you, nastiness. The way everyone wad rushing to get the best view at the font, it was a madness.
I'm quite critical was wireless festival. The only issue I have is the fact that most of the UK artists were subordinate acts. This is thier country yet, they were dominated by the american artists. I understand they they are more famous and all but its a bit rude, it kind of says "you're below me even on your country". When we should be celebrating predominately UK music at this festival. But than again who am I to say anything.
