BET Award

This is the showcasing of the music industry in the states. In many ways its just like the Mobos but its on a much bigger scale. The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year. It is also an annual event that takes place. This years BET Awards has already passed us and I'm anticipating next year's one. It should be great.


The awards that were awarded this year and t who are as followed:
-Beyonce winning best female R&B/Pop artist
-Chris Brown winning best male R&B/Pop artist & Fan Demomium
-Best Group won by Rea Scremmurd
-Best Collaboration won by Common & John Lengend- Glory
-Best male Hip Hop artist won by Kendrick Lamar
-Best male Hip Hop won by Nicki Minaj
-Video of the year won by Beyonce's 7/11
-Video Director of the year won by Beyonce, Ed Burke and Todd Tourso
-Best new artist won by Sam Smith
-Best Gospel arstist won by Lecrae
-Best actress won by Taraj P Henson
-Best Actor won by Terrene Howard
-Youngstar award won by Mo'ne Davis
-Best moive won by Selma
-Sportswomen of the year won by Serena William
-Sportsman of the year won by Stephen Curry
-Centric awar won by The Weekend- Earned it
-Best international act(Afria) won by Stonebwoy
-Best international act(UK) won by Stormzy
-Viewer's choice award won by Nicki Minaj ft Drake, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown- Only
-Honors awared to Janet Jackey, Smokey Robinson and Tom Joyner

What is differnt from this award and the Mobos award is thr level of publicity it get and the duration of it. Tthey cover so many different elements of the entertainment industry and it makes everything much broader. I love the hype they have about it and is so fun to watch. In all honesty, the Mobos is so boring, I guess its because its celebrating black achievment but with a white audience, so where you would expect the audience to be all hyped up, that's not the case. It the complete opposite. The audience is just so dull and lifeless, meanwhile the BET award they show so much excitement and that they genuinely want to be there.

The only thing that bothers me about the BET is how UK artists and other artists and treated. Whenever a UK artist wins a award its so silent, only a fee claps. RUDE! However, it's understandable that is because the US don't listen to much or know these artist, but come on have some repect, its a big enough deal that they life all the way out here to be given the award but to also be disrepected. What a joke. I understand the Hollywood runs the entertainment industry but give us some credit where its due! Yet when US artists win awards down hereh open hands. The irony. Makes me feel kind of bad about it.

The one thing I must say, you can not go wrong with the BET Awards when it comes to their performances! Everything single year it get better and better. They just come back with some fire, that leaves you wondering what on earth they can do to top it off for next year.
