Feedback on what to improve for my ancillary

Today I went to speak to my friends about the quality of my digipak and what I could do to improve it. I showed them my work and compared it to the digipak of the artist that have inspired our work 'Krept and Konan'.

I was delighted about their reactions. They told me that the quality of my work was impressive. They told me that the colour scheme was very nice and that they could easily realise that the 'prayer hands' were part of my synergy

However, they did raise the point that there were some improvements that could be made. They said that I could add more pictures and text to my website and also go over all of my ancillary work to make any last minute adjustments to my work.

All in all, they were very pleased with my work and I gained some valuable information for my digipak.

Weebly Website Link

http://kwabzxkapone.weebly.com/

What Site will I be using to create my website?

The site that I'll be using for my website is Weebly.

After using the site in lesson previously, I feel fairly comfortable in using the website and I believe that eventually, I'll be able to make a website that is of a decent standard.

I've never used Wix before so I feel that it is a sensible decision to go with the website that I more used to. Hopefully, the website goes well!

Post Photoshop thoughts

Using Photoshop for the first time in years was fairly challenging to be honest. It was very time consuming and initially I struggled with using the programme. After using up so much time on YouTube videos, I finally got the hang of Photoshop and will be using it again sometime in the future. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with the progress I made on my ancillary work.

DIGIPAK FOR THE ALBUM - PROMO AD/WEBSITE DECOR

This was also one of my initial ideas for an album cover, instead it will now be used as a promo for the song Roses and will be placed on the website

DIGIPAK FOR THE ALBUM - PROMO AD

This was also a candidate to be on the CD Cover, but I felt it was too specified to the song Roses, rather than the album as a whole. The fact that Estelle is in the picture as well also plays a role in me not picking this as she is only a feature in one song, so to have her on the album cover doesn't make too much sense. Instead of being a cover, it will be on the website and will be used to promote the song Roses.

DIGIPAK FOR THE ALBUM - TOUR FLYER

Initially this was supposed to be the front of the CD cover, however I changed my mind and thus I had to change the look of it to being a tour flyer that I will be putting on my website.

This was the original CD cover, however I thought it was to simple to be the CD cover and I changed it

DIGIPAK FOR THE ALBUM - CD COVER

I made a couple designs for my CD Cover so it was hard for me to make a choice. I was stuck between a 'dark' looking cover and a bright, vibrant cover as strangely, within grime, there are both dark and bright CD covers.

{For instance, JME's 'Blam' album is very colourful}

I opted to choose the bright cover as I felt it was more aesthetically pleasing and jumps out at the consumer.

Using Adobe Photoshop

It's been a couple years since I last used Photoshop or any other editing application, so it wasn't a piece of cake getting used to the software. I've used Photoshop once or twice when I was younger but I don't have any real background with the programme, but I've been using YouTube videos for help and have started to begin work on my ancillary. Displaying 347A1885-4655-4AD4-ABC1-93DDC5404F67CC4A66DE-E564-437B-8A1C-B3C31F32D514.jpgDisplaying 347A1885-4655-4AD4-ABC1-93DDC5404F67CC4A66DE-E564-437B-8A1C-B3C31F32D514.jpg

Media Blog Post 54 - Overview of costumes

The costumes above have all been integral in our music video. Firstly the costumes worn by Kwabz and Kapone were useful as the tracksuits and casual clothing meant that young, working class people and followers of grime were able to relate with us easily. Also the use of Nike as being a synergy was also an effective tool. The costume worn by Estelle brought a more upper-class, female fanbase as they could relate to her through her use of costume, thus meaning that costume enabled us to get a wider target audience.

Media Blog Post 53 - Photo's for ancillary work

The pictures above are all pictures that we may decide to use in our ancillary. They are all fairly good pictures and if we apply some special effects via photoshop, hopefully they will come out in exceptional quality.

Media Blog Post 51 - Where the ideas came from

A mix of these pictures led to my draft of how the ancillary work may look when completed.

Media Blog Post 50 - Design and Layout Ideas

Researching design and layout ideas was a pretty simple part of the planning for the ancillary. To gain inspiration, I simply went to the work of the artists that we were based on.

Seeing as we are a 'parody' of Krept and Konan, I researched how their current album looked.
The picture on the right is of 'The Long Way home' and inspired my initial layout ideas. Just as in the picture, I wanted the two main protagonists [Kwabz and Kapone] to be on the front of the cover, rather close to their faces. I also was touched by the importance of the backdrop and will have to consider the backdrop that I may want to use when it comes to creating our ancillary.

The picture to the left is a sketch (a poor one admittedly) of what my initial ideas for our album cover for the ancillary will look like. Although my drawings aren't the best, the basis of my ideas are apparent. The main focus is to get the name of the artists and the album in big bold writing and have the two protagonists at the fore front of the cover.
