Issues faced

I experienced a hard time when I couldn't find the inside of my digipak which I had finished creating last week. In turn I must have no properly saved it or deleted it. So the following week, being this week Monday, when I want to do a little edit that was bothering me, I came across this dilemma. However, it was short lived as I simply recreated it the best as I could. This was lucky due to the fact that I had taken a photo of what it looked like when I created it on Friday and I used that as a plan of how to recreate it rather than making something entirely different from what I did. But all is well now, thankfully.

Feedback on ancillary so far

So far I am nearly complete with my ancillary mission and it has been such a daunting task considering my difficulties with the software Photoshop. But I feel as though I have gotten the hand of it quite well.

I went around asking people about it so far and I'm really impressed with the level of feedback I've received. For instance many have told me they see the resemblance between my product and the artists that have inspired my work, that being Krept x Konan. It is clear to see that I have managed to link their "The long way home" and my own "Iconic" simultaneously. This has been able to show through because of the significance of imagery and mise-en-scene.

As I loved the concept of the sky background from their album, I wanted to portray that by also using the skyline. What I'm pleased to say I have managed to achieve is the cartoon like image of it all. Through the use of trying out different filters and it looks pretty good.

Another aspect that the audience admired was the use of the theme of colour, I tried to captivatethe same   colours of something similar to that of "The long way home", which on turned created the theme of journey and hard times, the sky especially playing a key role in that.

Another aspect was the body language and position of the artists. Kwabz x Kapone were in a similar position as Krept x Konan, that being the sides of the digipak and website. However, the way in which I have made it different is because of the use of syngery, in this case , it was the prayer hands that was used. It has been used throughout the ancillary and music video. Likewise with the name of the album, it was coloured res just has how "The long way home is in red" once again showing the blood, sweat and tears they have gone through to get to where they are now.

What I need to improve on is finishing off my website and adding in all the necessary links such as social media links . Likewise with my digipak, there is one thing I need to sort out and that is  my CD, there's apart of it in the middle where its white, I need to edit it in a way in which instead of that white part, it will be replaced by the background, so that it doesn't look like its just floating in the middle of nowhere

Taking long consideration, I have decided that the most suitable website for me to you in order to create my artist website is Wix. This is the website in which we used in As Media and I have grown very use and fond of it, which is why I want to use it. It is so straight forward when using it and I enjoy the experience I have whiles using it. I didn't want to use Weebly, as I tried that out in the summer and I really didn't like it. It was just confusing and unlike Wix it wasn't as nice I personally think. The layout of Wix is great at explaining how to use the various tools, as well as having great templates, there is far more to choose from.

The template I have decided to use is called "Hiphop Artist"

Working on the digipak

I haven't used Photoshop since the age of 14, so everything is so new to me, I have no idea how to use or do anything but nevertheless I'v been on YouTube looking at tutorials on using the various tools and just to pretty much get a hang of it all.

Honestly it took me ages to get to grips with it all but I feel as though I'm on the right track. I have created a sort of rough cut, I will have to work of a final one as I realised that I wasn't meant to use any photos from Google, as that will put down my mark as I haven't captured the image myself

Blogging health check 3

Here is what I got for the blogging health check and I am very pleased with it. It just goes to show that hard work really does pay off. I am constantly trying to keep up with my blogging and do extra research. Just need to push that little bit further with the ancillary as noted and hopefully in the end I can achieve a 20/20. Words can't describe how proud I honestly an. Literally didn't think that my blogs were as good as they are, all I have been trying to do is be as detailed  as I can be.

Just keeping up with the hard work and determination and I will prosper. The only regret I have is not putting in the work last year otherwise my grade would have been s amazing.

There is something about this image that love, as it consist of all three artists and they are all seen doing the synergy of the Prayer hands. It's a beautiful image. I haven't added any text or anything on it just a little edit via https://www.befunky.com/create/. This will be a effective poster or banner to promote the song and album.

The two websites above are my inspiration as to how our website should look hopefully. As they both consist of their album being the main design on their website. Which is something that we can incorporate. The element of gigs website where he features one of his music videos is what I would like to add into our own. We can achieve and do that.

Yes I know this is a really bad attempt but nevertheless I hope it has help to show what I have visualised and due to the editing it can be achieved, notice how I didn't colour in Kapone and Kwabz, this is because I couldn't get the colour and show it in the way I have imagined it to be.

The images above are of Kwabz x Konan, which are similar to that of Krept x Konan, as it consists of only them and no one else. We have wanted to incorporate their style into our own digipak and will potentially use one of those images for our digipak album. The gesture and body language seen above were inspired from the real artist as it was easy to recreate and so effective at symbolising our interpretation of pain, growth and journey. We plan to crop and edit them accordingly and to produce a work of art.

The images above are potentially what we will use as our advertisement, this is because you get to see Estelle as well as the boys. Which I've noticed in real life advertisement of songs, they tend to have the main artists alongside their features. In our case it is Estelle, plus the images we got are pretty cool, so if it is edited accordingly, they will come out incredible.

The yay and nay

Where ideas came from

Here we have One of Tinie Tempah's albums. The reason why I brought this up as a root of our idea is because of the similarity of the importance of the world. In this image above it is as if he is concurring the world. As well as that, it is glowing, similar to how I imaged our digipak. There is also more ratio of the image rather than the text, which is similar to how I image our digipak to be.
Here we have Justin Bieber's Purpose album, that recently came out. I previously made a post about it. The reason as to why I have chosen this is because of the body language he has chosen to use. This is similar to the one in our digipak idea. It shows to contemplation. It is such a powerful and strong gesture and it is very universal too.

Here we have Wretch 32's Black and White album. What I love about it is the use of colour, the name of the album is also corresponding with the design on the digipak. He is also positioned in a way that he looks as if he's in deep thought. This can be used within our digipak to have Kapone and Kwabz doing this gesture( plus the synergy of the prayer hands) As they will be parallel to each other and signify the meaning. The ratio between the image and text is good at helping to identify the artist as Wretch is what your eyes are drown to. It's so simplistic in the way it is done yet so effective.
The biggest influential element towards our work, lies in the hands of Krept and Konan's The long way home. This was the album we got the song from and most of our digipaks revolve around this beautiful work of art. It is pretty much how we would like it to be, but obviously we can't completely take way their idea, so he have to settle for little bits and bobs.

What I find appealing is the use of the editing of the colour. Though this isn't the actually album cover of his "This thing called life" it was one of the artworks for the song "Song cry", nevertheless it is still beautiful. I love how the rose still has its colour. I feel as that approach can be applied to our digipak. Therefore, the globe in our digipak can be of colour with a glow surrounding, to indicate the greatness they are achieving. Whiles there's like a fade out of the other things on the album cover. Meaning that most the colour will consist on the globe and kind of fade out into the surrounding of a grey-ness just list that of August Alsina's album cover. The way in which our digipak will differ from August will be as we don't have the name of the artists on the album cover. Which is why we will only use the name of the album on the front cover. As it pretty much sums it all up.
