During the class discussion, we assessed the importance of having a digipak in relation to promoting music videos.
A digipak can be integral in promoting a music video as it adds extra value to the product in the sense that a customer is more willing to purchase a song as it provides them with something that has extra meaning. For instance, a digipak may include a special quote from the artist, piece of synnergy, picture or extra information about the artist which makes the song/music video more marketable.
A digipak is also useful in promoting the 'face' of the artist and their work. More often than not, the artist would be on the cover of their digipak, hence seeing this would make the fans more willing to buy it. It not only increases sales, but it also makes the artist to become a more popular, prominent figure in the industry.
